Desrt trip find

Hornedboa Mar 24, 2008 04:09 PM

Just got back from a week long trip - Mt. Whitney to Death Valley to Clark, Providence, and Kingston ranges. Also hit the desert tortoise sanctuary in Mojave on the way back and spotted this guy. The tortoise pic is from the Clark range.

Cool!
I was just in the tortoise preserve outside of California City on march 25. Is that the one you went to? I spent 3 days in the area, saw side blotched, desert spiny's, and whiptail lizards, and mojave rattlesnakes and a desert glossy.
Did you see any snakes on your trip?

I did not see one f'in snake! Very bummed.

Yes that is the same preserve - we were there on the 22nd.

Yes, it was very slow out there, just a little too early in the year. Was pretty happy about all the moisture in the ground though, it was wet 3 inches down. Should be a good year for all wildlife down there.
