Adult Tokay Weights?

Ophidiophile Mar 30, 2008 01:27 PM

Do any of you folks weigh your adult/breeder Tokays periodically? If so, I'd be curious of the weights of your adult males and females. I am rehabbing 1.1 wc calicos and am currently keeping them separated. I would like to put them together when their weights are in a range such that it would be safe to breed them without endangering their health. I'm trying to figure out what that range would be. Any help would be appreciated.

Young adults have about 80 to 100 grams. At that weight, breeding is not a problem. Females rarely exceed 200g, but older males can reach 250 and more

Thanks for the reply - this is very helpful. When my pair (I think they're a pair anyway) came in 2 months ago the female was 54 g. and the male was 62 g. They were both full adults in size but just VERY skinny. Two months later the female is now 72 g. and the male 79 g. So my plan to begin introducing them in June or July seems to be on track.
Thanks again!
