Help with ID

allegraf Apr 03, 2008 03:49 PM

My cousin in Miami snapped this pic of this lizard/gecko that has been breeding up a storm around her house. This particular lizard/gecko is one of the juvenile ones. Any help with ID would be appreciated.

Looks like a tokay from what I can see. Kind of blurry but looks tokay.

Thanks. That is what I thought but when she looked at pics on the web, she said they are similar but the tails on hers are alot longer and thinner and the eyes are red. I haven't seen them as yet.

How big are we talking?

House geckos are crazy common in Fl and some have similar patterns. Hard to tell color wise from picture.

I don't think it is a house gecko. I am also from FLorida and used to live in Miami. None of them were ever that colorful nor did they have red eyes. I'll ask her how large the biggest one was.

Its tokay. House geckos dont have those colors.

That is definetly a tokay.

to me it looks like a tokay (Gekko gecko) and they do live in some parts of Florida and its likely that wild ones would look a little different then captive breed ones (tail etc) because in captivity theeir breed for better color i wound guess, but the eyes look like the tokay eye color and they do range in color a bit so its likely to be a tokay.
