Saying goodbye to friends...

Another gorgeous spring day. Perfect weather to release a few of these juvenile delinquents that have been hanging around all winter.(Storeria - red and brown)

I just fed them one last time, and we have selected an awesome protected spot for release.

Kind regards,
Wayne A. Harvey

That looks like a great area by looking at trees I can tell lots earthworms and slugs in that wooded area floor.

did your snake give birth to the young you released?

Yes they were born in our living room.

Last year my kids brought home several snakes, 2 were gravid females. 1 Storeria dekayi (dekay brown snake) and 1 Storeria occipitomaculata (red belly snake)

When the babies were born, I decided to teach the kids about raising them over the winter.

Now they are all sub adults and more than ready to go and be free.

Our first accidental breeding was 2 years ago, we released all but one. I have encountered 2 of those in the wild since, Finding one this spring doing well was awesome.
