Ornate Horned Frog Won't Eat or Defecate

EvanISOT Apr 18, 2008 10:18 PM

Hello Everyone,

My frog hasn't been eating for the last 6-8 months. However, if I hold a cricket by the legs, and annoy him for a few minutes, he'll eat it. I've been feeding him two crickets in that manner about every week.

Very recently, though, when he reluctantly clamps down and swallows the cricket, he'll look like he's about to puke, and I'm not referring to their natural stomach jig that they sometimes perform when digesting...he looks as though he's choking.

Also, he hasn't defecated in about a month and a half, and before that he had gone even longer without defecating. I'm getting really worried about him. Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks,
Evan

Evan, have you treated for chytrid? Is it aestivating perhaps? Shedding at all? What are your temps and humidity and what substrate are you using?

Go to fatfrogs.7.forumer.com-expert advice fast, better than mine but that is how I learned about them. Ornates are supposed to have great appetities btw.
