Difference between m/f when...pooping?

Scirocco Apr 22, 2008 05:51 PM

I searched and didn't find a post that talks about this so here's the question.

When a tegu takes a dump (and probably most lizards as well), sometimes their genitals can be seen. Can I use that to tell if my tegu is a male or a female? What would be the difference?

Thanks.

Males will pop their hemi-penes out and release built up sperm. This doesn't happen every time. Females don't have this option. I wish I was a lizard!!!

Thank's for your help. I guess the female I've had for 7 years now is actually a male...
Hope I never insulted him.

Could be a female...the males usually have nice big jowls, especially at 7yrs.
