HUGE western paints?

bonomoc08 Apr 26, 2008 10:34 AM

I went to the Tampa Reptile Mania and Exotic Expo on March 9th and saw some giant-size western paints. Looking at them, you'd swear they were 12 inches, but the vender said they were 8 1/2 inches. It just now popped into my mind, how big do western paints get? They were begging for food, so I'm assuming they were either captive bred, or kept for a long time after being caught from the wild.

Thanks, Cliff

The old Conant field guide lists 9 7/8" as the maximum recorded size for the western. Surely someone has documented a 10 incher, at least in captivity.
