grays tree frogs

jessa Apr 27, 2008 08:27 AM

i have a gray tree frog that my daughter got from northern ont. last summer. Been ok until recently. Eating only 1 pre loadeded cricket/wk. No longer chirping. lethargic, still sits in water dish. I have had no uv lights on him.Is this correct. Help. I find lots of info on other frogs, but very little on my wild gray tree frog. Can I put him in a sunny spot? Can I let him hop outside on nice days? Any info on care is appreciated. Thx.

He doesn't need any UV. If you put the cage in sunlight, be careful not to let it overheat. Letting him out for fresh air is fine, just be sure you don't let him hop where any chemicals have been sprayed recently.

Has he been acting like this all winter? If so, there is probably nothing to worry about. These guys just sit tight through the winter months, even indoors.

I think you should offer him more food. My Hylas eat 6-10 crickets a week.
