First Hybrid breeding for me = Success

mike17L May 14, 2008 08:30 AM

Finally, after two years of trying to produce some colubrid hybrids, I have eggs. I will post some pics later.
The female: Albino Jungle corn (50/50)
the male: alterna phase grey band

I managed to get these two to breed last year, with no luck. This yeah, I got them to bred twice. I used a little trickery. I placed the male alterna in a female alternas tub. I also placed the female alterna and another female alterna in 6" deli cups in the tub. I left the male with the two female alterna (in deli cups) together for 15-30 minutes. I could have put a piece of rope in with him after that and he would have breed it, so when I put in the female jungle, all he saw was snake and all he smelled was alterna. Last night, she gave me 16 fertile eggs.

The neonates, when hatched will be 50% alterna, 25% cal king, and 25% corn, and all of them will be het for albino.
