shed question....

savannahblue May 14, 2008 05:27 PM

My veiled cham is in shed right now. hes been shedding for longer than two days, is this normal? the humidity stays between 50%-70%. He also seems to be eating much less, is this normal? I never really read anything specific about their shed cycles during my research.

Thanks

As chams age shedding can take longer. Areas where the skin is less flexible like the casque and ridges on their face can take longer as the skin doesn't move much. As long as the skin isn't building up on toes (it might cut off blood flow) or isn't accumulating and giving a place for bacteria build up it should come off over time. Showers and higher humidity will help him get rid of it.

Sounds good, he's under 4 months old (I know.. this is the delicate stage). As hes been shedding he also seems to be eating less, is this normal?

That varies a lot. If he's going through a more difficult shed he may be preoccupied and itchy.
