Black Coachwhip in Tucson, AZ

I just wanted to share a few photographs that I took while I was in Tucson, AZ a month ago.

This was the first time I've seen a completely black Coachwhip! Normally, in Arizona, I see red Coachwhips....and in Florida I've seen the typical black head, fading towards the tail, to a light sandy brown.

This one was after some baby Cactus Wrens...but they both were able to narrowly escape.

the amphibians with the headlamps look strange. Did you bring one back?

Great shots!!....very interesting about the black coachwhip!!...could this be a melanistic Western coachwhip????
