Stopped Eating...

juliethegr8t May 25, 2008 12:23 AM

I've had a nice female crestie since January, and though she's never eaten much, for almost a week now she hasn't eaten at all. I hear people talking about their cresties eating a whole gatorade lid - she just takes a few licks, when she *was* eating. Granted she's only probably 7-9 months old, but it doesn't seem like enough to me. (I have yet to get a gram scale so don't know her weight.)

I've got the T-Rex CGD, and have tried mixing it with peach baby food, as well as applesauce, and offering both of those alone. She hasn't touched anything in awhile now. Obviously I'm getting worried. I'm thinking of buying the Repashy Super foods with nectar additives to try some other flavors, but is this worth it?

She seems perfectly healthy otherwise. Very active, clear eyes and nose, etc.

Along the same lines, I have a 15 gram male who doesn't eat a lot either. I have only had him a few weeks, but he eats only a few licks as well (more than she ever has, but not much total anyway). And don't worry, the two aren't together.

Thanks for any help!!

stick with the pure CGD unless you want to try the 2-part nectar system.

just check for fresh fecal matter, and make sure they're not rapidly losing weight or looking skinny. what are their temperature and humidity ranges? sometimes geckos just eat a little, and sometimes they go through growth spurts where they eat a ton.

She has eaten a little in the past few days, thankfully. I moved her food up to her favorite arboreal platform, and she seems to appreciate that. Still just a few licks, but better than nothing. Now he is the one who hasn't eaten for a few days. *shrug* Apparently they're just messing with me?

Temperature is room temp, between 75 and 78 during the day, and humidity hovers between 50 and 60%.

Thanks.

moving into summer, you can try increasing the temps up to 82F and be sure to mist heavily in the evening to around 80-90%. this should increase their appetite.
