Is peat moss an okay substrate for a yearling redfoot? At the moment i'm using coco fiber. But i can get peat moss in much larger quanities and it is alot cheaper. I was just wondering if it would be an okay substrate?

I use a mixture of Peat Moss, top soil, and Forest Floor, by Zoo Med. I tried using Peat Moss alone, and it was very messy and got in my Cherry Head's eyes. I also put some leaf litter I found in my yard. In the hide, I put long fibered moss to hold humidity. On top of the mixture I put some Fluker's Green Reptile moss. I don't have to mist that often, and it holds the humidity very well.

I used to use cypress mulch but recently switched to a mixture of coco fiber and playsand, it's working pretty well, but is pretty costly when filling a large enclosure. So i'm either gonna start using peat moss, cypress or maybe a mixture of the two.
