Tips on Luring Tree Frog back?

shannons Aug 31, 2003 07:43 PM

Hey all - Our adult female White's Tree Frog, Golom, learned how to push up her screen cage and escaped into my FIL's basement. (She had done it once before but I found her sitting on top of the cage and had assumed I lef the top open -since she only figured this out after three years) There is plenty of water in the old sink and leaky pipes, and lots of bugs, lots of toxic substances too, but if she does figure out a way to make it down there for any length of time, any ideas on luring her back or the best time of day to look for her? No luck so far. I have her water bowl full and her cage open, but there is not a lack of water down there, so I'm not sure if that is helping...)

Okay here are some tips. Frogs have this sense for water. Any nearby watersource and they will go to it. I would say turn on some water around your bathroom and leave it out. Tree frogs love hiding in shaded areas so try looking under things like house plants or under smooth surfaces. Just hope he is still inside your house. A good time to look is during the day when they are hiding from the heat. They won't move much so you can narrow your search. Around dawn is when they start moving around for water/food. If he ever gets outside say bye bye. Hope this helps.
