HELP: Travelling with African Dwarf Frog

metropolis93fan Jun 02, 2008 09:18 PM

Hi! I'm in a bit of a pickle right now. I have a betta and female African Dwarf frog. This Saturday I need to drive to Florida. It will be a 3 day drive, 8 or so hours a day, but I will be in Florida for 5-6 weeks, so I need to take my little buddies with me. I'm thinking I'll take them in a large plastic container, with air holes of course, and a battery operated fan to at LEAST use during my pit-stops, or all the time if need be. Could bring an aerator to use at night if you feel it would be helpful. Any other suggestions? Do you feel it's even possible? I don't know if I can find anyone to take care of them here, but I'm worried about them, especially the Lynda, the frog. The betta I can get my mother to watch, but she refuses to watch the frog, and I HAVE to take this volunteer position in Florida. I'm really uncomfortable finding a frog sitter online... You never know who you're going to find. Any suggestions or ideas or gut reactions? I really would appreciate it! Thanks!

Cass

You can put them in a container like you mentioned and they will do fine. The last time we moved I carried over 30 ACF the same way for 13 hours with no adverse effects on them. I would suggest something taller and thin though, maybe a 3 liter bottle for the frog. Then stand it up while traveling. I only say this because this way there would be less chances of it being sloshed around on every turn and braking situation like it would in a big tub.
