Anyone know where I could get my hands on a pair of clown frogs(Hyla leukophyllata)? I've been waiting on an importer, but he keeps giving me the "go around". He's got some pairs, but not the kind I'm askin for.

The latin name for clown frogs is now Dendropsophus leucophyllata. I'm not sure where you can get the "kind you are lookign for", were you looking for the reticulated variation? If so I have seen them for sale within the past year by somebody on frognet but they ran at about 150 per frog, and they were Cb. I would try to get cb frogs if you can. If you can't find those Dendropsophus ebbracata are a very similiar species a few breeders are working with. I have them and they are very similar to clowns.

You are probably referring to Hyla leucophyllata.
It is a colorful species. There are some people breeding this species, but of course it is difficult, if not impossible, to determine the sex of froglets. Importers are often not the most knowledgeable about sexing frogs either. If you can visit the facility, you can probably pick out a pair yourself. That would probably be the best solution. Keep in mind that most wild caught individuals are probably males because males tend to draw attention to themselves by calling and because they tend to hang around breeding sites for longer periods of time than females. Females usually do not go to the breeding site until they have eggs ready to laid and they usually leave the breeding site as soon as they finish laying eggs.
