Hi all... Found a gecko crawling across my wall last night. I live in the Mojave Desert of So Cal and its definately not a banded. It doesnt have eyelids and it does have toe pads. With tail it was probably 5 inches long. Unforyunately, when I picked it up it dropped its tail. Coloring is a sand-tan color as base with brown spots. It has gold eyes with vertical pupils. I have posted a pic in the gecko photo area. Any help with identification would be greatly appreciated.

Looks to me like a Mediterranean House Gecko, not sure about if they are in So Cal or not but I like next door (in phoenix) and we have those around our houses here.

Figured out what species she is. Shes a Hemidactylus turcicus or mediterranean house gecko.

These guys are often used as feeders for species that prefer lizards.

Great lil pets though, as far as lizards go - ultra hardy, easy to care for, PROLIFIC BREEDERS and can eventually become used to light handling.
