What reptile to get?

azhketh Jun 11, 2008 08:21 PM

I have a cabinet that I'm planning on turning into a reptile enclosure (3' long x 2' deep x 2.5' tall), but I can't decide if I should move my corn snake into it or get another reptile.

If I get another reptile, I want to be able to handle it without stressing the little guy out, and of course he needs to be of a suitable size for the enclosure. I would prefer diurnal, so I can see him enjoying his habitat.

I've looked at bearded dragons, but it seems like they need more floor space; ackies need deep substrate and apparently don't always agree with handling; gargoyle geckos seem like a good choice but they're nocturnal. I don't really like leopard geckos, and while anoles are cute, they're too small and can't be handled.

Do you guys have any ideas?

You could get Rankin's dragons. They are just like Beardies but are smaller so they need less space. I kept them years ago and they were just as friendly and easy to keep as they Beardies I had.

Hey Jim, they sure are pretty hunh, They are both full aquaflames, Oklahoma born.

The little one does look like KONG but is not his son, this is Yazhi, got him a botu a year ago. He now is older and chasing the girls around the tank, so I'm sure I will have lil Yazhi's soon, hehehhee.
