broadband feeding on rodents question

Trolligans Jun 12, 2008 08:16 AM

So I have a juvenile hypo broadbanded watersnake that feeds aggressively on peach fuzzies. He was eating only frogs and tadpoles but I had to switch him as the frogs and tadpoles were becoming more difficult to capture.

Are there any dangers to long term rodent feeding for a watersnake? Should I supplement his diet with anything?

I've heard of people grinding up fish and injecting it into mice prior to feeding.

Any suggestions or is it fine to use a rodent-only diet for a watersnake?

Rodent-only should be fine. There's not much in fish that's not also in rodents except scales and gristle. If you're worried, just offer a live tadpole or fish (not a goldfish) now and again.
