ALBINO BALL EATING PROBLEM

chadcassidy Jun 13, 2008 05:57 PM

Hi
I have an 06 albino female ball python and she has not eaten for 6 months. I have brought her to the snake shop and they tried everything in their power to get her to eat and all they could say was to take her to the vet. I'm taking her this week but i was just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to get her to eat, she is a beautiful snake and i would hate for something bad to happen to her.

Thanks,
Chad

The first thing you want to ask is wether or not she's losing weight. Also are you attemptig to breed her? I own over 40 ball pythons, and as you can imagine, i run into these sort of problems all the time. Ball pythons are notoriously pickey eaters. If she isn't losing any weight, i wouldn't worry too much yet. I had a female given to me because she wouldn't eat. She continued this for over a year and then bam!! Been eating great ever since! ake sure your enclosure is hot enough, if temps are to cold, she could be in breeding mode. This often causes them to stop eating! Also, did anything cange from when she wasn't eating, to now. Has she been with a male? Ect.. Hope this helped a little! Let me know whats up with her! I would hate to hear you lost such a beautiful animal!
