Red Foot questions on plants and food

DoctorCosmonaut Jun 14, 2008 08:18 PM

A few questions:

- Does anyone know if it’s safe to plant ferns in a tortoise enclosure? Will they ignore them and eat the edible plants?

- Does anyone have a more extensive list of what plants are Red Foot/forest tortoise safe? I’ve found a lot of little ones that just list some weeds and a few flowers…

- How much should my tortoise eat per day (in terms of cups)?

This is the best site I have found so far. It is very informative and gives you pictures of exactly how much you should feed for each age level.

Heck, mine will eat anything you give her. I feed her dandelions, squash flowers, dandelion flowers, clovers, and am growing kale exclusively for her and my beardie.

She gets an exta treat from strawberry flowers and fresh picked blueberries. A couple times a year she gets a cricket or two.
