how do y'all feel about feeding a snapper trout or panfish. I'm an avid fisher and i bring home alot of my catch to eat throughout the summer and fall. Do you think a snapper would eat a bit if i cut it up for him? I always have enuf on hand. Do they eat trout and panfish in the wild? thank you.

there are not a lot of fish that a snapper won't eat.my ally wolfs down small chunks of fresh catfish,and i've fed small(under 2" long)live bream(bluegills,warmouth,etc)to snappers in the past with no problems.i've found that they like bullfrog tadpoles,too.

almost forgot,try freeze-dried shrimp and krill,too.have'nt found a snapper yet that would'nt eat them.live grass(ghost)shrimp,too,if you have access to them.

megalon, so far i have fed him reptomin, shrimp pellets, emerald entree(a frozen food), and frozen glassworms (white mosquito larvae), and newt/salamader bites. He's eaten it all. I was just curious about native fish since everyone seems to recommend rosy reds.

Yeah, most fish should be good for your turtle. The exceptions are goldfish (not very nutritious and often treated with nasty chemicals) and spiny fish such as catfish (catfish meat is fine, you just don't want him to get the pectoral spines lodged in his throat).

definately,just catfish filets.for my little one,i cut it into 1/2 " cubes,to try and cut down on the mess.try newborn pinkies,cut in 1/2,also.just not too often,once a week or so.great job on the varied diet,by the way.turtles need variety,and it's great to see people who understand that.i've seen WAY too many people who use just reptomin,because"that's what the guy at the flea market told them",when they bought the poor little turtle on impulse.keep up the good work!
