Texas longnose on hoppers

antelope Jun 21, 2008 08:07 PM

Here's a Jim Wells county,Texas, Texas longnose that went from one scented pinkie straight to hoppers. I love these guys and hope to work with them regularly in the future. I think I have a pic of a Brewster county, Texas, longnose as well, she is more of a pink animal.

Very cool indeed!, Todd.

I'm sure others wish they had such good results about switching them so quickly,....that's fantastic!

best regards, ~Doug

I think the trick is to have what all us "easterners" have here a good 'ol ground skink, but there are skinks out west too, I think, LOL! Anyway I put the pinks in with the skink and scent, then let the longnose see and chase down the skink but retrieve it before it catches it then pull the bait and switch. Also feeding at night is important.

Like I said before, wish it was that easy w/ SoCal Rhinos.

I've been wanting to grab a couple SoTx longnoses for awhile now.
I have a River Road that finally eats mice well, but the South Tex take rodents readily.
