Red Eye Alligator Lizard??

Rachella Jun 21, 2008 08:09 PM

Recently at a local lizard show, I walked by a booth and noticed a unique looking little lizard!!

It was pure black, about the size of my hand. It had large red circles around its black eyes, and it was damn well the cutest little thing I've ever seen. The fellow with it said it was a Red Eye Alligator Lizard. After several google attempts I've failed to match it, though. He was trying to sell it for about 65 bucks, and claimed his friend had caught it in Florida, also claimed it was about as big as it was going to get.

Anyone got any ideas?

Witout a pic its difficult but it sounds like what is called a Crocodile Skink or Crocodile lizard in the the trade. The genus is Tribilonotus and there are several species. He did NOT catch it in Fl. as they are commonlly imported from Indonesia....TC

That was it! I googled Crocodile Skink and that's what it was. Thanks a lot.

And it is from the description is T. gracilis.
Not very simple species to keep and a very secretive one.
