I have some good size watermelons ready to be eaten. Now I've only ever given my big dude small chunks of watermelon here and there, and since I've got about 8 ripe and ready to eat, my father keeps telling me to bring him out a dinner plate full of watermelon. He hasn't had any fruit in over 3 months, except cactus fruits, and has had an all-natural diet of grass and hay, with maybe 2 heads of romaine a week. Would it be an acceptable idea to give him a dinner plate full of watermelon, or will it cause him to have diarreah?

Mine get treats of watermelon during the summer, but just give them some to snack on, I wouldn't throw out a huge portion but some to nibble on is a nice treat here and there. It's loaded with water so it's a good way to hydrate one...and well it has sugar too!

I'll just give him a small dinner plate of it. The redfoots usually get it alot during the summer, because the pen gets so hot and dry. Plus, I love it. My watermelon are grown from the seeds I save from when I buy watermelon in Alabama while I'm on vacation. Alabama has the sweetest watermelon and the best boiled peanuts. I buy watermelon and boiled peanuts whenever I visit family up there, and stock up on it. I save the watermelon seeds and freeze the peanuts.
