Legality of keeping Red efts in N.J.

SCULLY1953 Jun 24, 2008 01:58 PM

Can someone tell me how I can find out if it is legal for me to keep red efts in captivity in the state of NJ? I did have some on order but the dealer won't ship until I find out if it is indeed legal to keep them here, which I totally understand.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I have tried to contact the Div. of Fish & Game but I cannot seem to get through to anyone by phone. Thanks for any hekp you might offer.

Shawn

You do not need a permit to possess Notophthalmus viridescens in NJ, which seems to me to imply that it is legal to import captive specimens. Wait on that F&W reply for confirmation, though.
