I wouldnt say doomed, but ostracized. We are definitely freaks over all to many people. The shame is we as owners are doing a great deal to ensure these animals are around for generations. What channel was this on? Perhaps it will be in weekend reruns.

It was a cox cable thing-- I dont have a clue what channel... it was on once earlier- about 7... then i saw it again from 12-1 am...

truely a horrible show...

They were talking about 150 foot snakes, then showed a little diagram of one on a football field... about 1/2 as wide as the feild and 1/2 as long--
Then they show a VERY mad Red Tail boa... with a camera in its face- then it strikes at the camera- and gets stuck on the lens so you can see down its throat.... *rolls eyes* ... 150 foot red tail... i'd buy one of those... lol

Its just frustrating...

Damn! I was so wrong all of these years! I have 3 adult greens and a yellow. No one is over 13 feet. 150 feet? Where will I get the elephants and belugas to feed them?

I hate the mediots!

Yup, I watched this debacle as well. It was on the (Making up) History Channel. It was good to Rivas again, but other than that what a ridiculous waste of time. That program was full of every half truth and outright lie I've heard regarding large constrictors. I especially liked the part about them spreading across North America like the plague once (or is that if?) the temperatures rise due to global warming (I find it hard to believe that these people really believe that the temperatures will rise enough to make areas that routinely get around freezing hospitable for TROPICAL snakes). Watch out all of you innocents in New Mexico, there may be an anaconda hiding in your grandmothers shrubs! Full on b.s. I am with you Beth, I believe we as big snake keepers are in serious trouble, most of which is brought about by fear mongering ophidiophobics. I certainly hope the responsible people in this hobby can hold up against the continuing tide of negative publicity.

DID YOU SEE THE SHOW WHERE HE LOOKING FOR RETICS AND GETS BIT AND MAKES A HUGE DEAL OF IT!!!!! HES THE ONE THAT WENT LOOKING FOR BIG SNAKES AND DIDN'T EVEN BOTHER TO BRING ANY KIND OF ANTISEPTIC.... IF YOU PULL A SNAKE OUT OF ITS HOME IN THE WILD YOU SHOULD AT LEAST PREPARE TO GET BIT. NOT TO MENTION THEN HE MADE THIS HUGE DEAL OVER IT!!!! I COULDNT HELP BUT YELL AT THE TV!!!

Yea I watched that show. I found it really funny how the guy got bit by the red tail, although it still is retarted that they are going to make it look like snakes are all bad. I mean seriously, if any of those people even knew anything at all about snakes, then maybe all of these bans wouldn't be starting to pop up. It's bad for all of us that some people just release their snakes into the wild, and then the media goes crazy over it...
