Unusual voice from nares.

a_chen_tw Jun 29, 2008 04:49 PM

I have 1 female green iguana that I have kept for 11 years who is a female . Last night I have observed something unusual from her nares. I heard some strange voice came out from her nares while breathing . But I have also observed some "wet salt" on the wall of the cage . As I know iguanas will egest excrescent salt from their body by their nares . I just don't know if the voice I heard from her nares is normal or it's a sign of respiratory infection ?

The voice sounds like a human snore and not really loudly . I also opened her mouth to check if anything wrong inside , but nothing wrong inside her mouth even no mucus found.

In fact , she is really fine in these 2 days whatever eating , activity and everything .

She never had any record of R.I in the past years I kept her .

What do you think about the voice came from nares ? Is that normal or a sign of R.I ?

Thanks.

Have you had your air conditioning on more lately? I have noticed in the past that the changed in temps related to AC and fall when the heat comes in an almost weezing/snorting noise that occurs when this starts up.

Keep an eye for nasal dripage, loss in appetite, etc... It the noise persists, you might want a vet check. The snalting is fine, but watch for a more mucuosy secretion.
