Something is wrong with Softy's Shell

jhallmark Jun 29, 2008 11:52 PM

I caught him in the wild. I belive he is a Texas Spiny Softshell.
When I first had him he was starting to get the normal spots on his shell as he grew. But over the last 6-9 months he has gotten these blotches on his shell. its not fuzzy like a fungus, but im not sure what is wrong. Does anyone know??

Thanks in advance.

That means that Softy is a lady. Female Apalone typically get that blotchy pattern as they mature.
