what age to sell at

mmfh Jul 05, 2008 02:45 AM

i lined up buyers when my geckos were still in the egg. now that they've hatched i have one person wanting to buy them NOW. I'm not sure at what age to sell the hatchlings. My oldest are only 2 months old. Would it be okay to sell the babies at that age? Or at 1 month? As soon as the eat? Or should i wait longer? Thank you.

I never sold crested geckos under 4 months but if the buyer is experienced with taking care of younger crested geckos, 2 months may be ok, if its eating regularly and looking healthy and active.

I have sold mine at two months, so far I have only sold them to reptile dealers, I think if I were to sell them to an individual I would wait a little longer. But generally speaking they are strong and healthy at that age. If some take a little bit longer to mature then wait to sell them. I also think that it is important to keep a detailed record of your hatchlings and keep track of when they were born.

i know of people selling them at 1 month old, and most chain stores get 2 month old babies, so at 2 months it isnt bad, but be sure to keep it cool and moist for them with their trip.
