Seeing my new bulbs are toast (where 5.0) I'm thinking maybe going with the 10.0 Seeing the height of the tank&The with the water being quite shallow for the spotties,theres a greater distance for the UVB to have to travel.The other alternative would be another clip on type lamp hung down closer to the turtles. I really like the 48inch floresents though. Any thoughts?

I use the 5.0 and have a couple taller pieces of driftwood in the tank that my turtles inevitable climb to the top of to bask closer to the bulb. I like the 5.0 b/c it has both UVB and UVA.

The whole lighting thing gets confusing.Some say UVB yes, some say no.I think the 4ft florecents just give me piece of mind knowing the whole tank is getting the UVB.The 10.0 says it travels 20 inches, and my tank is 24tall, probally 4 to 6 inches water, then a log, and basking spots of rocks and such.I think the UVB is *working* according to the #'s if I go with a 10.0 (again, the whole tank will get it)But at that distance from turtle/light with a 5.0 might not *work* unless I hang another clip on type in the tank closer to the water.If I do that where do ya think I should hang it?Directly in the middle or over a basking log?....Curtis, awful feeling when the pick-up truck stuff happens...can't do anything but watch.I've lost a piano out of a truck!..a lot of noise, hahahaha.I'll get some clearer pics , I couldn't figure out the settings on that damn camera. I took about 40 pics,and could only make out about 10 of them.7.2 mega pixel camera,with a million settings and I have NO clue.
