emperor newt question

rtopa Jul 11, 2008 10:37 PM

I just got a male and female emperor newt and the male seems very fat and is gulping up crickets like crazy, but the female seems thin and I have never seen her eat. She will not even take frozen bloodworms. How often should these newts eat? I am worried that the male is getting too much and the female is not eating at all.

The first thing I would suggest is to place the female in her own enclosure and offer her food. She may be intimidated by the male and seperating her just may do the trick.
