Transporting Iguanas

bigbruva Jul 19, 2008 02:14 PM

Hi this is really important so any information would be very appreciated.

Im moving to Turkey in just over a month and there's no way im leaving Spike. But i havn't got a clue if there's any rules on transporting iguanas. Im trying to find out but not having any luck.

Do they need injections? Or a passport, like dogs do?

Thank-you

I would check on this to see if there is a quarantine period. *I did a quick Google and Turkey does not have a quarantine period but requires a vet certificate of health dated within 15 days of travel. It also mentioned that a traveler can bring one bird and one dog (what the heck?).

You'll have to check with your airline to see how to transport him. I would see if you could keep him in a carry-on, dog-type bag that is dark and zipped so he isn't frightened by the surroundings.

They dont need injections, however a health certificate is often required. First you will need to check with the Turkish govt to see what laws they require for the importation of reptiles. Next you will need to check with your airline to see if they will allow reptiles on board. I would speak with reptile breeders in your area in case you are required to package the animal as cargo.
