Eye Fugus or Infection?

piffler1960 Jul 26, 2008 12:36 AM

My three year old has developed problems with his eyes. One clouded over and was red around the rims, he rubs it with his flippers, now the other is looking bad. I did some research and he's not def. in vitamin A as he eats Repto-Min and has had a healthy diet. Has anyone had the same problem?I keep his pool and container clean and he gets plenty of basking time outside. Any help would be appreciated. I'm thinking of treating with fish fungus remedy as it seems his eyes are itching.

I got a turtle sulfa-dip solution and gave him a few treatments and he's much better. A reptile sulfa-dip is really something every aquatic turtle owner should have on hand. I read where an aquatic turtle won't eat if it can't see and that was the case with Squirt. We call him Pac-Turtle because he usually gobbles everything in his path but when he eye was injured he wouldn't eat at all...but all seems fine now!
