my painted turtle floats

hey guys i got a western painted turtle shes a female somhwere from 2-3 years old, the problem is that she floats lazily along the surface of the water and she does not eat. i got her from the pet shop and has only eaten 4 feeder fish since i got her 2 weeks ago.please help!!!

Well I'm no expert on these things my guess would be R.I.,Any bubbles coming from her/his nose? Check all ya temps and ya water to. Good luck

You might also make sure you have proper lighting, both UVB and UVA lighting. A lack of UVB can cause lethargic behavior and lack of appetite.

thanx guys a lot im going to have it under the lamp she does that anyway if the prob persists the herp vet will be called.

You may also want to check your water, is it from a city source that has chlorine and chemicals? Does she have a basking area where she can easily get out? I guess it's one of those things where you'll have to try different things and yes a vet if it goes on much longer. Perhaps try something other than feeder fish. If she's too pooped to do anything she certainly won't feel like catching super. Good luck!

yea again thanx for all that info guys but, unfortunately my painted turtle passed away yesterday morning i was going to take it to the vet when i checked her out... thanks again guys
