I'm not going to make an Internet diagnosis, but when I got my ig as a rescue, he had a broken toe that looked like that. What kind of set-up does your little guy have?

The one I had was fed too many carrots-almost all carrots and a bit of lettuce, no UV light or supplementation. He was also kept with improper humidity. As a result, he had skin problems, but more importantly, he had the beginnings of metabolic bone disease resulting from calcium deficiency.

I've been working with him and four months later, all of his bone issues have healed, but he still has a slight underbite that comes from MBD. He needed proper UV, plus I give him natural sunlight in a mesh (not glass) basking cage, a proper calcium rich diet, daily baths for his skin, and short term meds from the vet to treat some other issues he had.

i keep him in a 55 gallon tank for now. i use new paper as a substarte, with peat moss on the side to keep the humidity high. i have a uvb bulb and a 100w bulb for heat. i supply clean water and greens dusted with calcium everyday. the temp of the tank is always 90+. he always has ample place to claim

What kind of UV?

uvb i think

Long tube fluorescent UVB bulb, or a coiled compact UVB that fits in a hood? The compact, coiled bulbs do not give out adequate UV. Also, the UV dissipates as 1) it passes through a screen lid (most reptile owners have to deal with this) and 2) the distance from the lizard increases. What I like to do is get a long tube UV bulb and put in a kitchen fixture that I buy from Home Depot. Then my husband hangs it over the side of the aquarium, on the inside, so that the lizard inside gets exposure at a distance of 6-12" at its normal basking spot. That's our UV set-up for lizards in tanks.

I think this might be called a gout. I read it could be from too much protein, like if you feed it live stuff..But I wouldn't think someone to do that.

nope i dont feed ot any type of live protein what so ever
