Gastric Bloat?

natethegreat Aug 04, 2008 01:27 PM

My sister has a baby Leopard Frog thay she got as a tadpole. She has been keeping it in a cage with moist paper towels, and a sterilized rock. She fed it a small cricket about 5 days ago. Yesterday, it was fine, but today, it was exteremly bloated. Could this be gastric bloat? I read somewhere that Pedialyte might be something to try. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks.

i don't know, do you have pics? and leopard frogs shouldn't be kept on pt. they are semi aquatic and should have a water area and the rock doesn't need to be sterilized. every leopard frog i have heard of is wc so chances it allready has pathogens, even though she got it as a tad. they are hardy and have strong immune systems so non-sterilized cage furnishings will not be a problem. assuming you get them from a chytrid free area.

if it's bloated its throat will be bloated as well. try going to amphibianforum.com and posting if you still don't get an answer.
