Perfect-day Chuckwalla photos...

RioBravoReptiles Aug 07, 2008 03:43 PM

.. perfect day if you are a Chuckwalla! .. intermittent bright sun and clouds, temperatires in the 90's..
.
.. as soon as I approach this pen the little-pig juvenile Hispidus come out to see what I may have brought them..
.

.
.. these things are the most curious and tolerant of any lizard I've kept, rivaled only by my Pto. Penasco chucks.. it's easy to pick one up for a visit.
.

.
.. then all the others want to know what's going on (and what's for dinner)..
.

.
WEEDS are on the menu.. they love junk weeds, and I believe they thrive on stuff like this.. I could give you the exact plants that I encourgae around the place.. but then (you know the rest..)..
.

.
.. here's a Puerto Penasco female in a different pen that came out for a look.
.

.
These are really great lizards.. but don't try them unless you can supply an environment with good UV exposure and the right temperatures.
.
Thanks!
.

I can!

They really are both gorgeous and very cute! But I see one that seems to really wanna come live in Texas! LOL! We have LOTS of tasty weeds and flowers here . . .

Seriously, great pics!

Any PP chuck eggs yet this year?

RioBravoReptiles Aug 08, 2008 04:11 AM

>>Any PP chuck eggs yet this year?

.. yes, at least two clutches. We had hurricane Dolly and the pens had standing water in them, for anywhere from a couple of hours to about a day, depending on where exactly.. I don't know what effect that is going to have. We'll know soon.
.
BTW.. I have a lone female chuck from the Date Creek mountains (south).. it's at least 10 years old, but seems healthy in every way... and she's one of those BIG ones from there.. if you can pair it up let me know.
.
Thanks.
