Accidental Babies... now what?

Cjacques Aug 15, 2008 06:33 PM

We recently got a Solomon Island Ground Boa into the store I work at she is about 18 inches or so. Had her for roughly 2 months or so at the store. I fell in love and purchased her. Within days of bringing her home she popped out babies! Four survived. Now what? I wasnt expecting this. Been doing some reading here and everyone says feed frogs. These guys are way to small for frogs. Any advice would be great. Thanks all!

they usually dont eat at first, usually waiting a week or so, but if you go to one of jerry conways posts, he has a link to his care sheet, probally the best out there. you can possibly try scented pinkeys, but i honestly dont think itll work so soon. best of luck with the babies though, and remember to post some pics

18 INCHES?....I HIGHLY DOUBT YOU HAVE A PAULSONI....SOUNDS LIKE A CARINATA CARINATA(INDO TREE BOA)....HOW MANY BABIES TOTAL?....I HAVE NEVER HAD A FEMALE PAULSONI DROP BABIES THAT WAS UNDER 2 FEET LONG....TRY TO POST A FEW PICS OF HER AND THE 4 BABIES....JC

The 18 inches size is an estimation. I may be off but pretty sure she isn't two feet.

There were 5 babies (that I know of) and 4 made it.

I will get some pics of the mother here soon.

Wow... you can ship those babies my way... hehe.

I would give them about 2 weeks and try offering very small live pinky mice. I would leave the mice in their cage and leave them in there for 24-48hrs. As mentioned above the odds of them taking mice right off the bat is slim but it is still worth a shot.

Otherwise very small green treefrogs work really well.

Good luck!!

Hello Cjacques.

How are your babys? have they eaten?

I have a litter of 6 babys. They haven't still eaten. I offered them one day pinkies but nothing.

here you have some pics.

Bye.

I've found that small brown(cuban) anoles and small house geckos are taken very fast and if live pinks fail its a good fall back. After two or three meals they usually switch over easily to live pinks.
