Our first couple clutches just hatched, one clutch of Carrot tails and one of Granites. Always an exciting time. Here is a pic of a baby Carrot tail hatching.

Here are some pics of the baby granites. One of them was a little cranky.

Great pics Nick! Glad you were able to catch them during the hatching process. I look forward to seeing the babies when they are all out!

Wow! These pictures are THE BEST!!! It is said that the Redtails get their red tail from their diet. Will your hatchlings have red tails? Do you need to feed them something specific to achieve it? Your cranky Granite is adorable! Thanks for these and the others you share on this Forum. They are a joy to behold!
Thanks for the replies. Austin has been taking a lot of great pics of our babies hatching, while I am out of town.
From what I have seen, even captive bred and raised carrot tails develop the orange color. It is not limmited to the wild population. I'm sure feeding them a good diet helps certain colors develop, but most populations of chucks breed true to their color and pattern, regardless of captive diet.
Thanks! I was just curious.
