Ive had my frilled dragon for about 4 months now and hes been doing great until recently hes gotten more lazy and doesnt seem to eat as much and his eyes dont seem as nice as they used to be and seem kinda like a sad saggy look im very concerned should i got to the vet with him or could this be from stress? i have the heat lamp between 95 and 100 and i have a uvb bulb and i take him outside on sunny days any advice?

If you can afford a visit to the vet, I would take him just to be on the safe side.

best wishes,

Anna

Sunken and saggy eyes is a good indicator of dehydration. Keep in mind that frilleds are a tricky thing when it comes to drinking water. It seems like sometimes they know how to drink from a water bowl and then forget about it for weeks at a time. Because of this, I spray water at my frilleds mouth and keep spraying until he stops lapping the water up. Do this for a few weeks, if it doesnt solve the problem then take it to the vet. Honestly, I dont like taking my frilled to the vet. Around here we have a exotic specialized vet and he didnt really seem to know anything about frilleds and will charge you 100 dollars for the wrong advice.

I know some people may yell at me for saying that, but usually the answer to most your problems can be better answered by breeders and other people who have frilleds other than vets who have never even seen one before. One time I put my frilled in a colder room (about 70 degrees F) and it accidentally started brumating. I wasnt sure of the situation, the vet gave and charged me for medication and wanted to do blood work. A few days later, someone I talk to here and there (Scott Corning- maybe youve heard of him), brought up the idea of brumating. I put the frilled in a warmer room (About 75 degrees F) and sure enough he was fine in a couple of days. After it was all said and done I spent a good amount of money on vet bills, that could have gone to a bigger cage or w/e. Just my opinion. I mean, it was the vets first time even seeing a frilled dragon, and did a bunch of unnecessary procedures.

man good thing i dont live in ur area. lol bc i would hate to deal with a vet who isnt knowleagable about frillys. over here in norcal CA we have a herp expert vet and he does an awsome job. he fixed my frillys topic skin infection and another vet healed his prolaspe.

id say the only thing thou i hate about taking him to the vet is the expensive bills they put on u. when my guy had a prolaspe it cost me almost 500 bucks to get him better. and that was when i first got him. the same week actually.

but hey i took on this responsibility and now i love my frilly and will do what i can to make him feel better if hes sick.

if ur vet dont know [bleep] about frillys or lizards in general. id advise u do find one who does before he or she does get any kind of sickness.

There is not a single one for hours. I live south of Chicago and the one I went to was the best I could find. If anything really serious ever happened to my frilled I dont know what I would do...

damn that sucks.

well the first thing to do would be take pics of any problems. then post them on kingsnake, and if all else fails, then take a trip to northern ca and set up an appointment with the herp vet here.
