hello, i recently contacted fed ex to get some info on shipping live reptiles. they said i have to be certified which isn't a problem.

what is a problem is that they say you have to ship from a business to a business. i asked if i would be considered "legit" if i got a business license. i was told it had to be out of a comercially zoned building (ex-petshop) not out of a home based business.

this would mean that all the dealers that ship to individuals are technically breaking the law, right? a couple years ago that wouldn't have bothered me a bit. i'm trying to dop the "right" thing today.

i am just a hobbyist that would like to be able to ship some of my offspring legally. is there anyway around this?

I run a "business" out of my home, and have never had any problem getting deiveries from Fed Ex. I have just given the shipper the name of my business.

right on. maybe i just had a lady on the phone that had a thing about snakes. i thought it was a little wierd that it had to be a commercially zoned property since there are so many other types of home based business out there. i'll keep checking...

Also, there is a big difference between a FedEx RULE and a law. My FedEx rep said that it was no problem shipping from my home to other residences as long as someone would be there to take receipt. He has been great in helping me. So far, FedEx has been just fine by me.
