Is Orange bad to feed to my Yellow Foot

renardv74 Aug 19, 2008 10:01 PM

My Male Yellow Foot loves Orange (And Orange Skin). Last night my girlfriend was looking after my babies and she was letting them run around the living room while she was watching TV and eating an orange. I think she was concentrating on the TV – because he came up beside her and eat the orange skin she left on the floor.

Is Orange in moderation bad for my Yellow Foot? (Skin or flesh). His is about 5 years old, is growth is constantly and he does not have any pyramiding.

this is the care sheet that I have been using for the past year with my Cherry Head. It also applies to a Yellow foot. According to all the care sheets on these tortoises, every one says no citrus fruits. It really is a good care sheet and my little guy is really smooth from using this site.

Thanks - I have read in a few places I should not feed my Tortoises oranges. The issue I have is they love it and my girlfriend will feed it to them when I am not looking.

I have found they also love peanuts and friend foods (Chrips). My male will refuse to eat and when placed on the floor will look for food droped from the dining table.

I will try and avoid oranges (Like I said GF tends to feed them when I am not looking)
