Water Dragon Opinion?

crocking Aug 19, 2008 10:40 PM

I have a water dragon. She is about 3.5 years old. She hasnt been eating too much if any but isnt losing 2 much weight and she is lethargic. Tonight I hand fed her one cricket when she had her mouth open and she ate it and when I hold her she struggles to get out but she sleeps on the floor of her enclosure when she used to sleep on her log. ANyone ever had something similiar happen?

She has been digging a lot but I just thought it was cause she was trying to get at her reflection so I tried putting stuff on the outside glass (paper, etc) to help with that. I thought about the egg thing but I can not feel them and she is not much plumper were the eggs would be.thx

Has she got a place to lay eggs in her cage.

>>Has she got a place to lay eggs in her cage.

The whole bottom of her cage is covered in bed a beast but no set spot for egg laying. I honestly dont think she is gravid. She is not plump enough for it. I have noticed there is a bit of blood in her feces so I am guessing parasites. Probally going to start treatment for it and see if there is a improvement. If not then I will try something else. Thanks.

I would definitly have a spot for her to lay eggs. Sometimes its not noticeable. Females will lay eggs regardless of whether they are fertilized or not. All you relly need to do take that bed a beast and make sure its 5-6 inches deep. Im just saying this because if it is there and she cant lay them, she will die.

Lethargy and lack of appetite could be either a sign of a parasitic infection, or a response to poor husbandry ie low temps and/or lack of correct uvb lighting.

Parasites: are her stools smelly? Does she defecate in her pond?

Husbandry: What are her temps, humidity levels, and uvb light you are using? How old is the uvb bulb itself? What size is her viv?
