Hibernating Pyxie?

ChadRamsey Aug 21, 2008 08:41 PM

ive had her for about a year. shes the size of a softball. Shes on bed-a-beast type substrate. i keep it semi moist. Temps are in the mid to high 80's on the warm spot.

well about 2 weeks ago, she cleared herself a bare spot in her enclosure in the corner. shes hunkered down and looks kind if, well, .....dried up, the bedding is still kind of moist, i mist it daily. She is responsive to my touch. But it appears that her eyes are kind of glazed over. She hasnt eaten in the 2 weeks she has been in this state, and this is the thing that bothers me the most.

What do you all think?

The same thing happened to my pixie. For a number of months he slept with his eyes closed. Then one day I saw him with open eyes. And then his eyes were closed again! I fed him some crickets and he woke up and chowed down. You might want to go to google and type in "pixie frog care sheet". There is a wealth of information there to guide you. Good luck!

Perfectly normal behaviour for pyxies. As long as your temps and humidity are good, then you should have no issues. They will come up when they feel like it. Here's a care sheet for them.
