Iguana in the bathroom?

jasonw Aug 24, 2008 02:13 PM

I have heard of people letting there Green Iguanas live in the bathroom. Scooter is growing very fast and I am now contemplating a new enclosure for him and started thinking about this. Is there a problem with allowing this so long as the proper UV, heat source is provided and the room is kept clean from anything that may injure an Iguana? Any suggestions, tips, stories? Thanks in advance.

This is very possible and we have done it here in the past. Be sure to secure lights and anything electrical properly as water and electric do not mix. The biggest issue is perhaps when guests come over having an enclosure for the guy to hang in might be a handy thing!

Ok thanks a million. The bathroom I had in mind is our Master bathroom witch we do not allow guests in so thats no problem. My local pet store offers an awesome stand for the light fixture I have with has 2 outlets,1 for the UV and one for the heat bulb.

make sure you keep the toilet shut... my rescue Ig is about 3 1/2 feet and he can jump out of the tub (when hes getting a bath or swimming) and he got into the kitty litter box (ewww) and jumped into the toilet!! If i were you i'd get baby locks of the bathroom curio or other drawers b/c the claws can open almost anything... Also make sure it gets plenty of exercise. Some bathrooms are small.... it would be best if your Ig could spend at least a few hours outside... Also.. Igs track their Poo on everything... so its really hard to rescrub the toilet, tiles, walls, everything... every day or every few days. I'm actually in the process of building my rescue Ig a cage... and if he gets adopted i still have my baby Ig who will grow up in no time

What a hansom boy and a tinny baby. I have decided not to use the bathroom, I am going to build her an enclosure in my living room and another one outside, I got the exact same incubator you have there, how do you like it? My eggs did not hatch in it but we already determined I doomed them before even putting them in there.
