Oh No Charlie What Did You Eat That For?

talfs Aug 24, 2008 08:56 PM

Charlie is such a trouble maker for his mommy. It was a nice sunny day this afternoon prior to the recent onslaught of rain we've had the past couple weeks, so I thought to myself "Well Charlie loves to sit upon the window sill, so why not let him get in a bundle of sunshine?" Of course prepared for anything I already had purchased a harness and lead for him. So we where outside and he seemed to be having a jolly old time my attention was drawn away for a moment and I looked back at him and he looks over at me with a mouth full of grass and some other plant.

Naturally I panicked.

So here is my question; will he be ok with only a mouthful of the grass? It is a normal grass used in near everyone’s backyard, and it hasn’t been fertilized in over six months. The other plant is what mostly worries me I'm not 100% as to what it is. It was a very small plant with a thicker stem, a soft red at the base that fades into light green. Heart shaped leaves shoot off in all directions near the end of each stem. The flesh does not pus or ooze any thing, it appears mostly water based. I know that you guys probably won’t be able to help but I figured I'd ask.

I really appreciate all the help,
Talfs

I would never had let a Uro roam the yard, even on any type of harness. Eating the grass, probably not the best thing for him. Anything they eat should be free of pesticides, herbicides, fertilizer 100%. Not to mention the temperatures a Uro needs, it would need to be really really hot and dry out to bring him out.

Hopefully everything is fine, my only suggestion would be to get a fecal done to see if there are any parasites from eating things outside. Just keep your eye on him and make sure he gets the proper diet.

It was abou 102 degrees with 10% humidity southwest New Mexico in the middle of Augusts tends to be really really hot and dry xD. Normally he doesnt go near the grass, he'd rather bask upon the patio I guess today he felt preticularly adventurous. But yes hes up to his normal antics so I think he'll be fine. He is schedualed for a check this saturday so I'll be sure to get one done.

Thanks for the help,
Talfs
