i've never used night lighting. If i did however, i'd use lights that didn't emit heat. Seeing them at night would be very neat. Good luck.

Another question is that my setup is in the living room, sooo my gecko is cool but freezes up when my TV is on or home lighting. So that was my hope should I get night lighting to ease him a bit? Or should I continue life as usual in hopes he adapts? This is his first week with me and I'm not sure how his old owners did location, night human living and how it affected him. By the way he's 8 mos old. I could really use some help I want him to stay happy and healthy

i wouldnt reccomend a light at all, and he will get used to the surroundings. the night bulbs, even black bulbs from home depot etc, emit too much heat. youre just better off without.

dc10,
You will find some keepers use night lights, some don't.
I didn't for years and recently went over to a simple little night light that goes on when the other lights go off. This gives just enough light to see into the enclosure and not enough to bother the animals. As cresteds are nocturnal, you will find that they will naturally be far more active once the lights go out at night.
Some folks also use 'red' lights as well with success. As mentioned, stay away from the heat lights and you should be fine.
