Bidron's Gecko care? Pics

Rosebuds Sep 05, 2008 03:35 PM

I run a small exotics rescue out of my home, and got in what I think is a Bidron's gecko today. It obviously needs vet care, and is scheduled for an evaluation and possible surgery on Monday. But I have been told on another forum that it might be a Bidron's and have read very mixed care suggestions. Is this a bidron's? Is it diurnal or nocturnal. Do they need hottish basking temps and UVB?

I just did a google search and that looks like your guy. Everything I saw was pretty straight forward:

Room temp cold side, basking side (UV basking heat - think bearded dragon) to 90F or so, 12 hours a day.

Moderate humidity - 60-65%

Here are to simple sources that say the same:

Yes, I did mean Bibron's, sorry. I think the majority care sheets suggest that they are diurnal, both arboreal and terrestrial, and do need a basking spot between 95-110, and need access to UVB, so I think that is how I will set him up. But some care sheets say just the opposite! I just hope he can be saved and that the mass can be removed!

That's a great thing you are doing taking him in, best of luck.
