Hey Everyone!

Thanks for looking. I just got this gecko at an Expo in Maine and they didn't tell me what he was. I knew I could get some help. I think he is a thick tailed, but not 100% sure, any thoughts?
Thanks a bunch,
Chelsea

Sorry the picture isn't very clear, something is wrong with my camera.

Yep, thats a thick tail, or more often called a fat tailed gecko (Hemitheconyx caudicinctus). You can find some care information for them in the "Features" section.

Actually it looks like what you have is a Pictus gecko (Paroedura pictus). It’s hard to tell from the pictures, but the body and especially the head look more like a Pictus than a Fat-tail.

Here are some photos for reference:

Fat-tail: http://www.the-livingrainforest.co.uk/lrf/images/caresheet/fattail.JPG

Hope this helps. Good luck.

The lizard in question is most deinately a Madagascar ground gecko (aka Pictus Gecko)(Paroedura pictus or now more commonly spelt Paroedura picta). This individual also has a regenerated tail. Your Pictus is one of the stiped variants, of which there are striped and banded individuals occuring naturally.

Take care, but remember to do research before picking up a reptile as a pet,
